Ice hotel in Japan
On the island of Hokkaido, was opened an ice hotel, as part of a bigger complex including a bar and a chapel. Built entirely from ice the Alpha Resort Tomamu's Ice Hotel includes only one double room To highlight the extraordinary beauty of the ice hotel, the Japanese engineers and scientists designed all up to the slightest detail. Employees of the resort are very concerned about the hotel, about the thickness of the walls which is 15 cm; they are constantly spreading the snow on the ice walls of the ice hotel to block sun rays from damaging them.
Obama Hotel Loves Barack Obama
Should Barack Obama be elected president, one of the first place he should visit overseas is Hotel Sekumiya in the Japanese town of Obama.
ABC News reports the people in Obama are crazy for Obama, the senator.:
Obama's name graces posters hung in the main hotel. Headbands and T-shirts with drawings of the candidate's face will be available soon. Local confectioners are designing Japanese-style sweet bean cakes with Obama's portrait on them.
But their obsession has nothing to do with politics. They just like his name!
And the town is hoping that Obama will be elected president to elevate their town's tourism. (Obama means "Little Beach" in Japan) One woman said:
"If he becomes popular, I'm hoping this whole region will get recognition."
Could there be a Hotel Obama in the future?

Tight squeeze: Capsule Hotel, Osaka Japan
Much like drinking sake, singing karaoke or haemorrhaging yen, a night in a capsule hotel is a quintessentially Japanese experience. It wasn’t exactly recommended in my guide book, but it is cheap, unforgettable and answered any questions regarding my susceptibility to claustrophobia.
Osaka, where I only intended to stay one night, seemed like as good a place as any to experience the confines of what my guide book described as a ‘spacious coffin’. After wandering hopelessly back and forth through one of Osaka’s liveliest districts, a spruiker outside a sushi restaurant took pity and in true Japanese fashion departed his post and walked me to my destination, the Kapsel in Osaka.
Upon entering the foyer I removed my shoes and was shown towards a large wall of very small cupboards and choosing cupboard number 281, I locked my shoes away and took the key to the reception desk.
My capsule would cost me 2500 yen for the night and after paying this and handing over my shoe cupboard key, I was issued with a numbered velcro wrist band, with an attached barcode and key and a set of printed instructions in English that explained how a capsule hotel worked.

Dana
The little village of Dana perches on a shelf of the mountainside that drops down into the Wadi ‘Araba rift. The single approach road ends at the beginning of the village, and from there narrow paths - barely wide enough to walk in - run between the houses, whose flat roofs provide an easy venue for social communication. Built of stone and wood, and plastered with mud, the houses blend perfectly with the landscape. The site has been occupied since ancient times, settlers drawn here because of its three abundant springs and good grazing. The spring’s still water the carefully made terraces on the hillsides, which are filled with all manner of fruits and vegetables. The village we see today is of Ottoman origin, its houses recurrently restored to keep them habitable. But by the 1980s Dana had virtually died for many residents had moved to a new village, Qadisiyyah, by the main road on the plateau, seeking jobs at the cement factory. In the I 990s electricity was brought, and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature restored some houses and initiated income-generating projects - making preserves from the crops, and designing and making silver jewellery. These developments have brought many villagers back to their old houses. When the outstandingly beautiful Dana Nature Reserve was created in the wild sandstone mountains on the other side of Wadi Dana, the villagers found more employment opportunities and became a vital part of its wildlife conservation mission.
The Dead Sea
Jordan’s western border runs below sea level for most of its 360 km length, following the line of the Jordan rift. At its heart is the Dead Sea, over 400m below sea level - the lowest place on earth. It is part of the Great Rift Valley, which runs from southern Turkey through Syria, Jordan and the Red Sea, west into East Africa and south to Mozambique. The cataclysms that created the rift began some 30 million years ago and recurred until 15,000 years ago, forming mountains which on the east rise to around 1,500m above the Dead Sea. Until 100,000 years ago the rift was an extension of the Red Sea; then the waters receded, forming the saline Lake Lisan, 200m higher than today’s Dead Sea. By c. 10,000 BC this had shrunk further, leaving the Dead Sea and Lake Tiberias, linked by the Jordan Valley. Tiberias became a freshwater lake, but the Dead Sea, with no outlet, remained saline. As the sources of the Jordan River are diverted by Israel and Jordan taps its streams for its own needs, the Dead Sea’s level has fallen sharply in the past 50 years - it is still falling by about one metre a year; and the rift is still moving. Bitumen was harvested annually from the Dead Sea by the Nabataeans, and profitably sold to the Egyptians for their embalming process; now it rarely appears. Today’s major product is potash; also table salt and cosmetic and therapeutic preparations.
Karak
This splendid Crusader fortress - Crak des Moabites, or Le Pierre du Desert to the Crusaders - soars above the wadi is and hills like a great ship riding waves of rock. It is strategically situated in the midst of rich agricultural land, on the ancient crossroads between the north-south trade route of the King’s Highway, and the east-west route that climbs Wadi Karak from the Dead Sea and runs to the edge of the eastern desert. Karak’s origins go back at least to the Late Bronze Age. In the Iron Age, as Kir-haraseth, it was a major town of Moab under King Mesha (c. 85 3-830 BC). Later it also figured in Isaiah’s prophecies, in which he rather oddly mixed messages of doom with mention of what may have been a local delicacy, now unknown - ‘Let everyone wail for Moab. Mourn, utterly stricken, for the raisin-cakes of Kir-hareseth’ (Is. 16:7). Carvings, column drums and inscriptions indicate that this was a significant town in Nabataean, Roman and Byzantine times - it minted its own coins in the 3rd century, and appears prominently in the Madaba mosaic map as Characmoba. But these earlier towns were obliterated by the new Crusader castle.

Miami Hotels
In a landmark-studded city where even the trendy clubs have beds, choosing a Miami hotel can be daunting. But for beach hotels Miami can’t be beat, and in this town even a cheap Florida hotel can be chic.
Architectural Gems
In Miami, even where you stay is a fashion statement. Miami hotels are a living museum of twentieth century architectural style. The charmingly restored historic clapboard houses of the Miami River Inn date back to 1906. The 1926 Mediterranean revivalist Biltmore Hotel features a bell tower modeled after the Cathedral of Seville, and the largest hotel pool in the continental U.S. Now the Setai, the 1930s Art Deco Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel has been fully remodeled inside with teak-and-silk Asian glamour. The 1940 Art Deco masterpiece Raleigh Hotel has had its interiors redone with a bygone Cuba theme, and it’s highlight is a palm lined swimming pool once featured in Esther Williams movies. The 1953 Art Moderne DiLido Hotel is now the Ritz Carlton South Beach, featuring ocean liner themes and synchronized swimmers in the pool. The postmodern interiors of the Delano Hotel were designed by Philippe Starck in 1995 to evoke Greek islands.
Chic Sleeps
Half the fun of staying at a Miami hotel is the chance of rubbing shoulders with a superstar in the lobby. The beautiful beachside Shore Club is rightly famous for hosting the famous. You’ll never know whom you might run into at its popular and trendy Skybar. The ultra-cool Hotel Victor offers lacquered ebony furnishings and satin headboards, and features a jellyfish theme: from the sculpted crystal light fixtures to the real deal swimming in the lobby aquarium.
For a taste of the superstar life, you might invest in a night at Casa Tua, an exclusive club that accepts reservations – albeit far in advance. Overstuffed sofas with cashmere throws, mid-century Italian furnishings, Chinese antiques, and imported toiletries round out your pampering. For the atmosphere of Paris, try the Hotel Place St. Michel featuring European antiques, wood floors and paneling.
Two hotels in the Brickell Avenue district take care of business in style. The Mandarin Oriental features suites with private media rooms and suites overlooking Biscayne Bay, and offers optional dining at either Azul or Café Sambal. The Four Seasons Hotel And Tower Miami, features Botero sculptures, secretarial services, and a Turkish steam room, a martini bar, and an open-air lounge.
Only in Miami
Half hostel, half urban art gallery, The Creek in South Beach offers low budget lodging with poolside parties. The Pelican Hotel has themed rooms in almost every imaginable décor, from casino to bordello to psychedelic.
While most Miami resorts are adult-centric, kids are more than welcome at the Sonesta Beach Resort Key Biscayne, which is known for its complimentary children's activities and field trips to museums and movies.

Himachal Pradesh – The Most Sought After Tourist Destination
Few places in the world are as richly endowed as Himachal Pradesh. Low rolling hills, just a couple of hundred meters above sea level, climb to touch the core of the Himalayan Mountains. Here lie peaks that are several thousand meters high and never lose their perennial snows. Rivers in deep gorges and placid mountain lakes, thick forests and the splendid heights of the Himalayan ranges, with its great scenic beauty and aura of spiritual calm seem the natural home of the Gods. SKIL proposes to develop Tourism-led Infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh. This is one of the largest comprehensive infrastructure initiatives in the state.
The development of each site is being planned & finalized after studying various factors viz. geographical conditions, soil, terrain, development in vicinity, proximity to major commercial centers, connectivity, etc. These sites will be developed in project-specific SPV’s. However, considering the synergies between all these sites and since these projects are complementing each other for economic sustainability, the development activity at the sites is planned simultaneously.
Green Tourism
It is recognised that Tourism is the worlds largest industry BUT – it has a poor reputation in terms of its impact on the Environment. Most of us can think of a few areas of concern, but here are some others that have been identified by the World Travel & Tourism Environmental Research Centre.
Changing land-use patterns and consequent changes in ecological systems i.e. loss of open space, wild life habitats, flora/fauna.
Emissions, litter, sewage, hazardous and other waster products.
Pressure on heritage and other cultural and natural resources from visitor numbers.
Increasing densities of development leading to congestion and overcrowding, especially at peak times.
Uniformity of structures and buildings and lack of respect for architectural harmony and load materials.
Competitive pressure from Travel and Tourism businesses for scare local resources and infrastructure such as transport facilities, water and other utilities.
Undermining of cultural practices and tradition.
Marine, terrain and climatic change induced in some areas by tourist usage e.g. beaches or ski resorts.

Vegas Hotels
When it comes to hotels in Las Vegas, you almost have too many options. There’s the always busy strip hotels that make the city a shining example of excess, the middle class vibe of the downtown hotels, the far flung off strip hotels that range from Hard Rock glamorous to utilitarian spots like Boulder Station – the rest of the city is equally populated with small-time hotels, motels and RV parks that means there is always a room available somewhere in town.
While Las Vegas NV hotels are everywhere, the majority of tourists descend upon the well-loved strip casinos. To add a taste of sophistication to go with your trip, Las Vegas hotels like the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and the Mirage are ready and waiting in the heart of the strip. Few things in the world compare to these hotels, converting the city skyline into one of the most recognizable strips of land in the entire world - the American version of Shanghai’s Bund, complete with running up billions of dollars in electric bills. Though the Paris, the newly renovated Planet Hollywood, Treasure Island and the Venetian are not quite as popular as the largest hotels in Las Vegas, each of them offer excellent experiences while keeping the price down just a little.
The Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and off-strip hotels like the Hard Rock and the Palms are also of the same tier, casino-wise, and their clubs and bars are absolute requisites on any tour of unbelievable Las Vegas nightlife.
The Wynn is one of the many in luxury hotels, with a steep rate to match the luxury. It has to be seen to be believed, but there’s a reason Steve Wynn was so proud to affix his name in giant letters on the gleaming exterior.
